beltram_portrait.jpgJoey Beltram is a techno pioneer, heralded as one of the scene's biggest stars.In 2009 alone Beltram had a Beatport top 10 with his remix of Oliver Huntemann's Shanghai Spinner. Then there was his huge vinyl releases like the Scorpion on Drumcode, Shaking Trees on Harthouse (a Raveline track of the month), and a killer remix of Abe Duque's Let's Take It Back that had rave reactions across the board including MANDY, Dave Clarke and Hell.There was also his run of headline slots at festivals, which in 08/09 has included Coachella, both of Italy's Play the Music Festivals, BLOC in the UK, Hungary's Bonusz, Awakenings, Planetlove Ireland and Rockit Open Air in the Netherlands, plus club gigs from Berghain to the 10,000 capacity Fabrik in Madrid to Fabric UK's sister club matter, Ministry of Sound and numerous appearances in Germany, the US, Spain, Holland, Canada, Malta and more. What’s his secret? Continued experimentation and an unparalleled run of influential tracks. Beltram grew up in Queens, New York. At 12 years old Beltram was DJing hip hop and electro, playing roller rinks and block parties to buy records, studio gear and decks.

He released his first tracks before age 18 on New York labels Nu Groove and Easy Street, and by 20 he caught the ear of Belgium's now pivotal R&S label with his track Let It Ride.R&S invited Beltram to Europe and techno history was made. Beltram arrived with a new track he'd completed a week before travelling. Energy Flash, released on R&S in Europe and Derrick May's Transmat in the US, is still one of techno's pivotal classics - Muzik Magazine's Track of the Decade, and a track whose title has named any number of record stores and books on dance culture. Energy Flash and its follow up Mentasm with Mundo Muzique made Beltram's name and took the 20-year-old right round the world, playing major events in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Germany and holding down a residency at the notorious Limelight in New York.Not content to rest, Beltram has continually toured at the major festivals around the globe treating the crowds to the full force of his inspiring sets.

He’s also continued releasing seminal tracks, his '93 and '94 tracks Aonox on Visible and "the Beltram re-releases" on Trax, the Caliber EP on the UK's legendary Warp (home of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher), and his '95 LP Places and '96 single Ball Park on Tresor were huge hits - each being one of the biggest techno records of that year, along with the LP following, Close Grind on Novamute, with the pivotal releases Believer and Forklift.In '99, he launched his own label STX with Arena, while he continued to release under Code 6 and JB³, as well as headlining events like Awakenings, Coachella, Nature One, Mayday and Dance Valley.

Returning to Tresor in '04, his album Rising Sun included several of that year's biggest techno releases. And he has kept the innovative tracks coming since on Womb, Harthouse, Drumcode, MB Electroniks, and Bush.Which brings us to 2010, this is the year STX will return in new form with a fresh sound. He is currently in the studio remixing tracks from artists such as Umek, Steve Lawler, Paul Nazca and Adam Beyer for their upcoming 2010 releases. As well, we will see some new music from Joey in February with remixes by Carl Cox, Alan Fitzpatrick and Joseph Caprioti. Beltram will continue with the festival headline slots, but an intimate club tour is planned for venues with the right sound systems.

As an initiator of the legendary The Zoo Project ibiza & Safaaari parties,with homebases at Privilege Ibiza, Vienna cult clubs Flex & Sass, EME Austria and several notorious parties in his native Bavaria to keep the underground alive in the middle of nowhere,things don't seem to be slowing down for Franz 'DEFEX' Hager.
Fuelled solely by Red Bull, the 29 years old German sent waves through the underground music community of 2008.His audience motivated tune selection of deep, minimal-tech house and techno,churned out with the help of his Turntables, Traktor Scratch, FX devices and his beloved drum machine has resulted in Defex being found behind the decks at some of the Europe’s most respected and original parties.2008 witnessed Defex at the Dortmund Love Parade, Tresor Berlin, in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Privilege Ibiza & many more.
His most famous residency is of course, Ibizas cult Saturday day party, The Zoo Project, which he is also a proud founder of.Labelled this years "success story" by Dj mag, where "egos are left at the door and replaced by the clubbers inner animal",The Zoo Project is the only open-air event left in ibiza.Playing alongside artists such as Jamie Jones, Mr C, Shonky, Anthony Collins, Sis, Jose De Divina and Monika Kruse, Defexs famed final sets never fail to leave "one more tune" ringing in the crowds ears long after the party has finished.The self-confessed musicgeek certainly knows where the hammer is at and is definitely one to watch out for in 2009....

Der Name ist keinesfalls Programm – denn wäre dem so, würde es sich um ein Pseudonym handeln. Doch Ken Hayakawa heißt tatsächlich so, was auf eine solide Japan-Connection hindeutet. Geboren 1982 in der Mozartstadt Salzburg, verbrachte Ken Hayakawa einen guten Teil seiner frühen Kindheit in der Heimat seiner Mutter. Mit sechs Jahren begann er Klavier zu spielen, die Karriere als Konzertpianist blieb – trotz Auftritt anlässlich der Salzburger Schlosskonzerte – unvollendet. Einige Jahre und eine Skater-Karriere später entdeckte Ken Hayakawa seine Leidenschaft zur Musik wieder und erfreut heute bei seinen regelmäßigen DJ-Gigs die immer euphorische Elektro-Crowd in Österreich. Erste Veröffentlichungen auf Vekton Musik, Frosty Minimal, FLEXschallplatten, Flash uvm. werden hier mit Sicherheit nicht die letzten bleiben.

Christoph Abele ist caTekk – als DJ, Produzent und Perfektionist. Mit „Funny Little Clouds" hat er 2008 eine unüberhörbare Hymne auf die Clublandschaften der elektronischen Musikwelt losgelassen. Jetzt ist der gebürtige Salzburger ein viel gefragter und beschätiger Fachmann, wenn es um ehrliche Arbeit am Mischpult geht und bewegende Kompositionen für die Tanzfläche entstehen sollen.
Der Weg ins professionelle Musikumfeld beginnt für Christoph Abele hinter zwei Plattenspielern und einem Mixer. Er verlagert seinen Arbeitsplatz vom Salzburger Land in die Wiener Stadt und bereichert dort seit 2004 die elektronische Clubkultur. Von der Institution Flex wird caTekk gleich nacht seiner Ankunft in der Donaumetropole als Resident engagiert: Bei der Veranstaltungsreihe crazy steht sein Name im Programm, erste Produktionen erscheinen auf dem hauseigenen Label. Wien ist Lebens- und Arbeitsmittelpunkt.

Eine besondere Beziehung pflegt er zu der Stadt Innsbruck. In der Schaltzentrale von Tirol hat caTekk gelernt, lange Nächte zu feiern und seine Gefühle im 4/4-Takt auszudrücken. Nach unvergesslichen Sets im VAZ Hafen ist Christoph Abele bereit, durch ganz Österreich als DJ zu reisen und den ein oder anderen Ausflug in die Ferne zu unternehmen. Im Reisegepäck: frisches Vinyl, stilistische Flexibilität und das Gespür für den perfekten Musikmoment.
Sein Produktionsjahr 2009 startet offiziell mit einer Veröffentlichung auf dem Label Estrela. „Time and Again" ist eine Abrundung dessen, was mit „Funny Little Clouds" begonnen hat. Heute ist Christoph Abele 23 Jahre alt. Neue Ideen entfalten sich jetzt permanent im Studio, inspiriert von den Eindrücken und Erfahrungen, die caTekk im Clubleben spürt und aufatmet - als DJ, Produzent und Perfektionist.
